RDI: Unlocking Africa’s Hydrogen Economy
One of RDI’s biggest goals is to be the first to unlock the hydrogen economy in Africa.
The hydrogen economy plays a crucial role for several reasons:
The biggest challenge
Increasing population– The United Nations projected that by 2050, Africa’s population will reach approximately 2.5 billion, representing 25% of the global population.
Food Security
Fuels Self-reliance
A growing global demand for "clean fuels" underscores the urgency to satisfy increasing energy needs, replacing fossil-based fuels to drive industry decarbonization and combat climate change.
Clean Cooking Fuels
In Sub-Saharan Africa, only 17% of people have adopted cleaner cooking methods. The remaining (940 million) lack access to clean cooking fuels and technologies, leaving them reliant on pollution biomass fuels like charcoal and wood for cooking.
The key solution to overcoming these challenges:
Unlocking Africa's Hydrogen and Circular Economy Potential.
RDI’s Solution:
Our approach revolves around recognizing and harnessing already existing cost-effective resources in Africa such as biomass, water, and renewable resources like solar and wind, as well as other natural resources. RDI innovates with cutting-edge technologies to produce green chemicals and fuels like methanol, ammonia, and urea, addressing Africa’s essential needs sustainably. Yet, our true success lies in delivering bespoke, innovative solutions that meet unique needs through creating a circular economy in combination with the hydrogen economy.
