RDI: Unlocking Africa's Energy Future
In the center of Africa’s developmental journey,
a pressing challenge persists – the scarcity of energy.
600 million individuals in Africa live without having access to electricity
Why?
- Reliance on imported fossil fuels
- Access to technology
- Inadequate funding
- Global energy shifts
- Lax regulations
Where others see problems, RDI sees opportunities.
Venturing into the dynamic energy landscape of Eastern and Southern Africa, RDI finds a staggering need for a $20 billion investment to attain their ambitious energy targets which is not only an economic necessity, but a fundamental human right. These regions, blessed with abundant resources, are ready to be harnessed for the greater good.

RDI - at the forefront of transformation
In alignment with the regional government policies, a monumental goal awaits- the installation of more than 18 GW of power capacity in the next decade, bearing a potential market capitalization exceeding $20 billion. In that sense, RDI strives to be the pioneer of this initiative and install the first biomass co-fired power plant in Africa by utilizing local resources and promoting the vision of self-sufficient and stable energy supply.
Empowering Communities with
Innovative Energy Solutions
At RDI, our approach is focused on harnessing readily available, cost-effective resources to create innovative energy solutions tailored to specific needs. The way of achieving this has to do with seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technologies with future-oriented business models, fortified by our established presence and operations across Africa.
RDI delivers comprehensive, end-to-end energy solutions that cover the entire spectrum: from sourcing and processing various fuel resources (including fossil fuels and biomass supply) to distributing power to the grid. Our existing expertise and assets in coal mining and biomass supply, together with state-of-the-art thermal power plant technology, allows us to be uniquely positioned to pioneer creative solutions that provide clean and affordable energy while benefiting local communities at the same time.
The first co-fired power plant in
Tanzania
Our ambition to build the first co-fired power plant in Tanzania will focus on initially utilizing a hybrid mix of biomass and coal as fuel for power generation while retaining the flexibility to transition fully to biomass in the future. Starting with an installed capacity of 300 MW, the plant can boast its scalability up to an impressive 1000 MW.
RDI will harness its resources of coal mines and agricultural expertise from Red Rock Mining, its well-established partner within the region. While the project’s development falls under the scope of RDI, the construction will be expertly executed by one of our trusted partners. After the completion of the project, RDI will take on the operation of the thermal power plant, strategically situated near Dar es Salaam, in Tanzania.
